Here are 7 ways on how to style a leather skirt!
How To Style a Leather Skirt
1. Casual Cool
Leather skirt + T-Shirt + Sneakers
Structured Bag // Leather Skirt // Gold Hoops // T-Shirt // Blazer // White Tennis Shoes
Leather skirt styling should not be limited to special occasions. I love leather skirts because you can dress them up or down. Also, it excites me that I can wear the same skirt to the grocery store and then out to dinner hours later!
I made this outfit more casual by adding a T-shirt and white tennis shoes. Feel free to choose any kind of T-shirt that suits your fancy. Without a doubt, Adidas Stan Smiths have been my favorite white tennis shoes for the past few years. My law school roommate turned me on to them, and I haven’t looked back since. Stan Smiths are comfortable, reasonably priced, and wear very well over time.
For this look, I also opted for a blazer and structured bag to make the outfit chicer. I love these gold hoops from Amazon because they are simple and go well with everything!
2. Outdoor Brunch
Leather Skirt + Chunky Knit + Cape + Floppy Hat
Chunky Knit // Cape // Floppy Hat // Suede Booties
I couldn’t resist creating this Outdoor Brunch outfit. The pandemic has me feeling nostalgic for my brunch-going days. This outfit is comfortable, yet chic. A chunky knit is perfect for those likely to indulge in too many pancakes or bottomless mimosas. I have always loved H&M’s chunky knits because they are very comfortable, yet stylish. In addition, they look and feel much more expensive than they actually are.
For the sake of warmth, I added a cape and a floppy hat. I really like this cape because it is reversible and can be worn with a lot of different outfits. The floppy hat adds a cute, yet practical touch to your outdoor brunch outfit.
As a petite woman, I’m obsessed with heeled booties. I find the slanted block heel design on these Sam Edelman booties to be quite unique!
3. Work From Home
Leather Skirt + Sweatshirt + Slippers
Coffee Mug // Sweatshirt see also, this // Slippers
Although many of us are now working from home, we can still manage to look put together in the most comfortable of ways. I find that putting in some effort to look presentable in the morning makes me more productive throughout the rest of the day.
I have been loving this pretty sweatshirt from Amazon lately! The ruffles make it pretty for Zoom calls, yet the sweatshirt material makes it comfortable enough to take a nap in. I also find that it looks cute with leggings when walking the dog.
I’m obsessed with these leopard print slippers! Not only are they comfortable, but they bring me joy every time I look down at my feet.
4. Monochrome & Cashmere
Cashmere Turtleneck // Patterned Tights
I love an all-black outfit. Monochrome outfits are such an easy way to look chic. However, in order to make the outfit more interesting, it’s great to add different textures. Pairing a leather skirt with a cashmere sweater is not only a great way to add contrasting textures, but is also an easy way to make an outfit look even more expensive. The suede booties also bring additional texture to the all-black look.
To break up the monochrome look and add more attention to your legs, wear patterned tights. I have been enjoying this patterned set from Amazon for nearly two years! I love that the set offers 4 different styles to suit your mood and outfit.
5. The Networker
Leather + Silk + Pearls + Tote + Camel
Freshwater Pearls // Tote Bag // Camel Coat // Silk Blouse // Booties
This outfit is perfect for the go-getting Millennial woman who is determined to make connections and build her empire. I love that it’s youthful, yet at the same time exudes class and grace.
Pairing a leather skirt with a silk or satin blouse can make an outfit appear more professional. A silk button-down is great for office settings and brings a more luxurious touch to an outfit than your typical white button-down. If you aren’t ready to invest in a silk button-down, check out this beautiful satin blouse from Amazon.
Adding a camel wool coat to any outfit can make any outfit look elegant. During the winter, I find myself wearing my camel coat much more than my black one because it’s so different!
A tote bag is essential for every woman. Whether you are a young professional, a busy mom, or retired, a tote bag can be extremely useful to have. I have had this Longchamp bag for almost four years and it has held up so well.
If you know me well, you know I love a nice pair of pearls. Contrasting rather edgy pieces with feminine accessories can definitely make an outfit look very unique!
6. Animal Print
Leopard Print Bodysuit
Without a doubt, leather skirts pair beautifully with animal print. Styling animal print with leather can create a very bold look that will turn heads.
I love this animal print bodysuit from Amazon. You can wear it with pants or layer under heavier sweaters and outerwear.
7. Date Night
Leather + Lace+ Over The Knee Boots
Lace Bodysuit // Over the Knee Boots
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Whether you are getting dolled up to stay inside or having a night out on the town, this is a great Valentine’s Day look! For date-night looks, I usually aim for outfits that strike a good balance between sexy and classy. By pairing lace with leather, you can create a more feminine look. The puff sleeves on this lace bodysuit are gorgeous! To amp up the sexiness factor, add over-the-knee boots. You’ll be ready for a great night!
I hope that these looks serve as great inspiration on how to style a leather skirt! Let me know which look you are going to try!
