Fermented Rice Water Hair Treatment For Longer, Thicker, & Stronger Hair

This rice water treatment involves fermentation. Fermentation has been known to enhance rice water's nutrients and effectiveness.  This is a great treatment if you are able to prep days ahead of your shampoo day.
FYI - fermented rice water does not have the best smell! To create a more pleasant smell, add orange peels to your rice water during the 2-3 day fermentation process.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of rice
  • 3 cups of water
  • mason jar
  • medium-sized bowl
  • strainer
  • small spray bottle
  • aloe vera juice optional
  • orange peels
  • plastic processing cap (grocery store bag works too)
  • Essential oils (recommend peppermint or tea tree)

Instructions

  • Rinse the rice in a bowl
  • After rinsing the rice, transfer the rice to a mason jar or tightly sealed container.
  • Add 3 cups of hot water to the mason jar
  • Add a few drops of the essential oil of your choice and orange peels to ensure a more pleasant smell
  • Close the container and let the rice water sit in a cool location for about 2-3 days. This will allow the rice water to ferment.
  • After the 2-3 day period, strain the rice and remove the orange peels.
  • Add the water to a small spray bottle.
  • Optional: For more hydration, add a few tablespoons of aloe vera juice
  • After shampooing your hair, spray the rice water on your hair and scalp. Your hair should be drenched!
  • Cover your hair with a plastic cap for 30 minutes
  • After the 30-minute treatment, thoroughly rinse the rice water out of your hair.
  • Follow-up with additional conditioner if needed.
  • Proceed with the rest of your hair routine
  • Enjoy stronger tresses :)
